United Kingdom: The Eurovision 2019 Search Begins!

The BBC have confirmed their participation at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, and furthermore, have launched their national selection for 2019. Once again the nation will be using Eurovision: You Decide as the national selection.

Interested participants can now apply as the BBC with their potential Eurovision songs with the submission period ending on the 26th of October. After the submission period closes, the submissions will be considered and shortlisted by a representative panel of OGAE UK members. Additionally, songs will be considered from leading professional songwriters who will be guided by Greig Watts, who is the new music consultant for the broadcaster.

Greig Watts has commented on the upcoming search, saying,

‘The Eurovision Song Contest just gets bigger and better and more exciting for me each year, and I’m sure Israel will deliver another amazing contest. I’m so happy to be involved this year for the UK; it really is a dream come true, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to get the strongest possible song and result we can for the UK, like we do on the world music stage. There’s no guaranteed song-writing formula for Eurovision as each year something different wins. I’m looking for melodic songs with impact for the arena as well as on TV. Songs that instantly hit you and never leave your brain!’

To submit an entry, you must first email the title of the song and the name of the composer(s) to: BBCEurovisionSubmissions@bbc.co.uk
